Yes, I know there are all sorts of products you can buy that will supposedly help you restore vaginal pH. However, none of these products help you as much as a good healthy diet can help. Using diet to restore vaginal pH has several advantages over chemical means.
First, you won’t have as many side effects! Never underestimate this!
Second, you have a much better chance of keeping your vaginal flora in tip top condition which will help you regulate your vaginal pH.
Third, you can think of diet modification as a permanent solution to maintaining healthy vaginal pH.
One of the most important aspects of using diet to restore vaginal pH is to cut out processed foods as much as possible. This includes eating out at restaurants and taking home containers of foods from most grocery delis (there are exceptions if you can find a natural food market in your area) as they use a lot of processed foods in their food preparation. Processed foods contain a lot of ingredients you want to eliminate, or at least greatly reduce, from your diet.
These ingredients include sugar in all forms (look out for high fructose corn syrup in particular), genetically modified foods (GMOs), filler foods that have very little nutritional value, and all sorts of additives, preservatives, and artificial ingredients.
You also need to avoid meat and meat byproducts that contain hormones and antibiotics and/or were raised on genetically modified foods. Look for pasture raised organic beef and chicken. Get eggs and milk from these sources as well. All of these factors can affect your vaginal pH balance in a major way.
To reduce processed foods, start looking for simple recipes online where you can make healthy meals in under 30-45 minutes. Look for recipes where you can make up a large batch of food and then freeze some for later use. Also, sit down with a pad and pen (or your iPad or another device) and plan out some simple to make but super healthy meals.
For example, you could bake a salmon fillet along with a sweet potato and then stem some brocoli on the side. You could make up a big salad and then throw some shrimp or pasture raised chicken into it for a high quality protein. You can also make simple stir fries with fresh vegetables that take only 10-15 minutes to prep and about 5-10 minutes to cook.
You’ll have the whole house smelling good. You’ll be eating fresh wholesome foods with a very high nutrient density that do not have the filler foods or harmful substances that most processes foods have.
After eating a healthier diet for about a month, if you do so consistently. You’ll be amazed at the how this can restore your vaginal pH and also confer many other health benefits as well.
